The Child Advocacy Center’s “A Chocolate Affair” last night was a huge success! If you came, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! If you missed it, I surely hope you’ll join us next year, as we plan for it to be an annual event! The CAC’s premiere fundraiser event was a chocolate tasting event, and I just don’t have words for how delicious it was… When I was helping decorate for the event Friday afternoon, I tried to see the evening’s events in my head, all set up. I’m so glad to say that the event turned out even more beautifully than I’d hoped! Here are some pictures from the evening. Enjoy!
As you entered the Atrium, you could go visit Sandy Herbert (The Perfect Cup) and grab a cup of coffee – Yummy! I love Sandy’s stuff. I was also glad to get to meet Will from Two Roads Cafe, who brought coffee & yummy treats, too. Here I am enjoying my coffee and goofing off with pal Vicki.
Here is the gorgeous ice sculpture, compliments of the Kake Haus, who also brought their yummy bakery items.
This was the first thing chocolate I tasted, and I loved it so much that I didn’t get to the others. It’s just heavenly! I don’t love chocolate like some people do, but I do like it to be good chocolate. I do not have words for this chocolate! It’s from Olive & Sinclair, awesome East Nashville chocolate makers. Their website is still under construction, so I’m sending you to their blog. Again, there are not words, people!
We had a cake from my uber-talented friend Gennifer Stueck – isn’t it gorgeous?! I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that it’s the best cake I can remember ever eating! It’s a chocolate cake with a turtle filling made of chocolate ganache, then a layer of chopped pecans, an a layer of creamy caramel. The icing is a chocolate swiss meringue buttercream covered in rich fondant. She uses farm-fresh eggs, and is all of her cake is homemade by her. Nothing comes from a mix. Her inspiration for this cake’s decoration came from the swatch of material below the cake. She custom-made the cake to match the material, even going so far as to hand-paint some of it on there with edible materials! Everything Gennifer does is homemade, and I’ll be sharing more with you in the future about Gennifer’s family’s other wholesome, homegrown enterprises soon.
Marino Music entertained us and made the atmosphere festive.
And here is our brand new group shot of the CAC’s Board of Directors. Back Row: William Glover, Marie Farley, Dr. Bill McKee, Jason Lawson, Tom Swink. Front Row: Me (Heather Wamble), Judy Jordan, Nancy Willis, Dr. Sharon Roberts, and our Executive Director, Deb Daugherty
Members of the local group of B.A.C.A (Bikers Against Child Abuse) came to help us and show their support.
We had a great time, and most importantly, “A Chocolate Affair” helped raise a lot of awareness about our Child Advocacy Center in our community. Hopefully, next years event will be even more of a blessing, and even more folks will come enjoy the festivities! It’s such a creative Valentine’s date, and it’s for such a good cause. I hope you’ll mark your calendars now for the next year’s “A Chocolate Affair”! I believe the date will be February 11, 2011. Here’s a pic of me and my Valentine from the evening. I’m so blessed to have such a great husband!
And finally, here is a slideshow of Yet To Be Photography’s coverage of the event. Thanks, everyone!
